New Features in Ripplestone 2.7

With the release of Ripplestone 2.7 we has continued to make the product more stable and to add features requested by our clients.  With this release Ripplestone continues to be the best value for enterprise report and document management software.

New Functionality

  • New support for additional document types.  Now, in addition to Crystal Reports, you can store Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint documents in the same folder as your Crystal Reports.  These documents can be viewed and printed directly from the web site.  Examples of these document types can be viewed on the Ripplestone Demo at www.ripplestonedemo.net.  Use Administrator and password as the User ID and Password.
  • View Scheduled History.  This will allow you to view all the history of scheduled jobs.  In previous versions you could only view the last job run, but now you have access to all the saved scheduled jobs.  So if you want to view the report from last week you can view it from the Scheduled Reports page.
  • Run reports from an external application.  With this highly requested feature you can run reports from another application without first logging into Ripplestone.  This allows users to build their own applications or embed reports into a Intranet site that can still use the Ripplestone engine to view the published reports.  You can view an example of these by clicking on the following link.  Employee Phone List for California
  • Limit Printing and Exporting of reports.  This feature allows the administrator to determine if a user is allowed to print or export a report.  If you only want a user to view a report, and not be able to print or export the report this feature will allow you remove the print and export buttons from the report viewer.
  • Allow users to set Print Method of the Report Viewer. The Crystal Report Viewer can allow the user to print the report using either a pdf or directly to the printer with an ActiveX control. This feature allows the user to select which method they want to use to print reports.
